Monet’s Garden Lilly Pond #1

20″ x 24″
Oil on canvas

After the more manicured areas of Monet’s Garden these quiet ponds had a different relaxed beauty. Monet lived into the 20th century and reach some financial success. He was one of the original Impressionists and remained true to the idea of painting outdoors to capture the light. Lucky me to be in the garden in October to view the softer colors of autumn. When Monet was affected by his cataracts he was always able to express beautiful vivid colors in his paintings. Because Monet was so prolific his work can be found in almost every major city Art Museum in the United States. Prints, art books and digital Monet’s are fine but to truly appreciate his work you should see original paintings.
