Sanpan Hong Kong Harbor

Hong Kong is notorious as a formal British colony reverting to Chinese sovereignty July 1, 1997. Hong Kong is the setting for many spy novels. The original Island was appropriated by the British in 1842. The British coveted the deep harbor which they named Victoria. Now the city known as Hong Kong encompasses much more than the original Island and has bridges, tunnels and ferries to the mainland. Hong Kong is noted for its great shopping. The harbor has many large floating restaurants and entertainments. I decided to make the object of interest in this painting a lonely moored sanpan with the sentinel bird. I like the contrast between an sanpan and the modern city surrounding the Harbor.
