Redbud Stems
18″ x 14″
Oil on canvas
Redbuds are one of the first trees to bloom in the spring. They are numerous, wild and beautiful. The yellow jasmine is also a early bloomer. This simple arrangement in front of my fireplace worked well for a small painting. Here is an example of when to quit. It would have been easy keep adding blossoms even though it would not contribute to the painting. Finishing a painting can be a difficult decision to make. I like to set aside my completed paintings and let them Rest. After a couple of weeks if I see a glaring problem or mis-shape then I will go back and correct it. Many times I will write a note stating what I want to correct. This keeps me from over doing a painting.
